Welcome to an inspiring networking evening on May 19th, 19:00-22:00, at the rooftop terrace of Verride Palácio Santa Catarina overlooking the Tagus river in the heart of Lisbon.
The evening gathers senior leaders from the Swedish-Portuguese network, and a delegation of executives from Sweden, visiting Lisbon to gain insights into the Portuguese market as a part of their Executive MBA at Stockholm University.
Participants will be given the opportunity to gain insights from a moderated expert session on Geopolitics & Security: Navigating the New Strategic Landscape. Together with Joakim Abeleen, Head of Geopolitical and Government Affairs at Business Sweden, and Luís Brites Pereira, Associate Professor in Economics at Nova SBE and former Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, the session will explore how shifting global dynamics are reshaping today’s geopolitical and security landscape. Offering insights into current geopolitical trends, their implications for security, and how leaders can navigate uncertainty in an increasingly complex global environment.

Joakim Abeleen is heading up Business Sweden’s global geopolitical advisory function, helping Swedish companies to navigate the prevailing geopolitical environment through scenario planning, insights and follow-up on policy implementation around the world. With extensive experience in guiding companies through geopolitical considerations at both strategic and operational levels, Joakim brings a unique perspective to global business challenges.
Luís Brites Pereira is Associate Professor (Adjunct), NOVAFRICA resident researcher and, until recently, the deputy-director of the ex-Center for Globalization and Governance at Nova SBE. Luís was an economic advisor at the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation, with respect to the internationalization strategy of Portuguese S&T policy. Subsequently, he also served in public office as the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
