CLS WEBINAR: RETURNING TO SWEDEN #2

On September 22, CLS, in collaboration with SkandiaMäklarna, Sérvulo & Associados, and Söderberg & Partners, held the second edition of the Returning to Sweden webinar series. The webinar covered key legal, financial, and property-related aspects to consider when planning a smooth move back to Sweden.

Following the first webinar in the series, held in June, this session brought together nearly 40 participants eager to learn more about what to consider when preparing for their return. Over the course of one hour, moderator and CLS Board Member Elin Boavida Berglie, together with our expert panel, guided the audience through practical considerations and valuable insights to help make the transition back to Sweden as smooth and well-informed as possible.

Peter Reuterkloo, Manager at SkandiaMäklarna, shared insights on the current housing market in Portugal and what to consider when selling your property. What are buyers nowadays looking for and why are some properties sold while some are not? Peter gave the answers!

Teresa Pala Schwalbach, gave us all of what to know when deregistering from Portuguese tax authorities, taxes on capital gains, and reinvesting in a new property or pension fund.

Lastly, Mourad Delayah & Christian Axelsson, Wealth and Tax Advisors at Söderberg & Partners, provided a checklist for moving your capital and taxes from Portugal to Sweden. Their key takeaway was to sell before you register in Sweden.
