The 2023 edition of our appreciated webinar Moving to Portugal was carried out successfully on April 18th. Our invited speakers from Ombria, SEB, Sérvulo & Associados and Skandiamäklarna Portugal shared practical aspects on what is required when planning on moving to this lovely country.

Portugal as a destination has become increasingly popular during the last years, nominated as both a world-class destination and one of the most safe countries in the world – both Sweden and other nationalities have considered and made Portugal their new home, or their preferred destination.

SÉRVULO & ASSOCIADOS – full service lawfirm since 20 years with a specialized Scandinavian desk

  • Shared insights on why people move to Portugal
  • Knowing there are a lot of benefits, there are also some challenging aspects, bureaucratic procedures being one
  • And remember: The public entities are not interconnected, so you need to register with each public entity and not only with the tax authority (Financas) – like we do with Skatteverket in Sweden

OMBRIA – a new generation low-density sustainable development close to Loulé on the sunny Algarve coast

  • Including both golf, hiking and many other nature experiences
  • Use renewable energies such as geothermal and solar panels for both hotel and property owners
  • 153 hectares of sustainable living close to nature with all commodities you could wish for
  • Offer both 5 star hotel and residences

SEB –  A leading Nordic financial services group, founded in 1856

  • Focus on the Nordic stakeholders, mainly individuals
  • Strive to simplify what is complex and offer a one-stop-shop for banking when moving
  • Offer banking that correlates with Portuguese rules and taxation laws
  • Offer everything from International daily banking to private banking
  • Handle and offer multi currency accounts, wealth planning, offer wealth portfolio and mortgages in Portugal

SKANDIAMÄKLARNA PORTUGAL – Real Estate Agency with extensive experience in Portugal and high local knowledge

  • Highlight differences in buying and owning a property in Portugal comparing to Sweden
  • Beyond being there to help from start to end when buying or selling a property in Portugal, the team has good knowledge about various aspects on living in Portugal and will be able to guide you appropriately when moving.
