On November 13-16 Web Summit Lisbon took place, one of the largest tech events in the world. The tech conference brought together 500 corporations, world-class speakers, over 70,000+ attendees, and 2000+ startups from 160+ countries.
During the Web Summit, Team Sweden Portugal together with sponsors took the opportunity to gather the visiting Swedish and Portuguese startups, corporations, investors, and governmental stakeholders at the networking event "Sweden Connects @Web Summit".
On November 15th, Team Sweden Portugal - Business Sweden, CLS and the Embassy of Sweden in Lisbon, together with LEAPS and sponsors organized the networking event "Sweden Connects @Web Summit". An annual event aiming to promote Swedish and Portuguese entrepreneurship, as well as the business relations between the countries. This year 130 attendees entered the beautiful venue of Verride Palácio de Santa Catarina for networking. Networking with the purpose of acquiring or contributing with: Clients, investments, mentorship, recruitment, or information about expanding businesses to Portugal.
"This concept started in 2017 when me and former Secretary General of CLS, Elin Forzelius, got the spontaneous idea of organizing a small dinner, inviting a few Swedish people visiting Lisbon during the Web Summit. The thought of organizing a small dinner quickly escalated and we ended up being 120 attendees at "the small gathering". Luckily I had some good friends there to sponsor the event, making sure I didn't have to pay the bill all by myself. Elin and the Chamber of Commerce did an excellent job and the gathering was a success. A new concept was born! As always a pleasure collaborating with CLS to organize "Sweden Connects @Web Summit". The success story continues."
