Key takeaways from CLS webinar: Moving to Portugal 2021

30 April 2021

On April 29, CLS carried out a “Moving to Portugal” webinar in collaboration with Ombria, Danske Bank and Servulo & Associados. Speakers from each entity shared different practical aspects on what is required when planning on moving to this lovely country. During the webinar, we covered loans, taxes and different types of properties depending on the specific need the potential Swedish relocators may have.

We are happy to share the key takeaways from this dynamic webinar:

Portugal as a destination has become increasingly popular during the last years, nominated as both a world-class destination and one of the most safe countries in the world – both Sweden and other nationalities have considered and made Portugal as their new home, or their preferred destination.

SERVULO – full service lawfirm since 20 years with a specialized Scandinavian desk

  • Shared insights on why people move to Portugal
  • Knowing there are a lot of benefits, there are also some challenging aspects within the bureaucracy
  • Highlight the differences on buying a property in Portugal comparing to Sweden
  • Special legal framework and conditions when buying property with tourist agreements
  • And remember:
    • The public entities are not integrated, so you need to register with each public entity and not only with the “tax authority” – like we do with Skatteverket in Sweden

OMBRIA – a new generation low-density sustainable development close to Loulé on the sunny Algarve coast

  • Including both golf, hiking and many other nature experiences
  • Use renewable energies such as geothermal and solar panels for both hotel and property owners
  • 153 hectares of sustainable living close to nature with all commodities you could wish for
  • Offer both 5 star hotel and residences

DANSKE BANK – breathing life into dreams

  • Specialized in International Private Banking since 1976
  • Offer one point of contact for their customers in a highly developed platform for e-banking as well as always 7 dedicated people to each customer
  • Tailormade service and recommend the advantages of being a larger customer in a smaller bank, such as themselves.
  • The goal for Danske Bank is that their customers can enjoy life at the moment and that they feel secure having someone treating their wealth for future generations

Besides from private living, Portugal has many benefits for starting a business here!
