Umeå Economics & Business Student Delegation

14 November 2025

On November 6th, CLS accompanied a business student delegation from Umeå University, consisting of a group of 20 ambitious and curious individuals looking for opportunities beyond Sweden. CLS facilitated business visits to HAYS and Millenium bcp which gave insights about the work opportunities and the attractive lifestyle that Portugal offers.

The group of students were carefully selected to join the delegation to Lisbon and the initiative is part of the annual Business Week, organised by HHUS – The Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics student association. The Business Week takes place every year, with the starting point in Stockholm, finishing the delegation in a relevant and engaging location somewhere in Europe. This time around the destination was set on Lisbon, exploring the opportunities of the growing tech-hub capital of Portugal.

The day started off at the offices of HAYS, who works to find and recruit the talents of tomorrow, which gave the students the opportunity to learn more about opportunities, benefits and regulations regarding work in Portugal. Besides that, the presentation gave a glimpse into Portugal as a country with some curious facts, like for example that Portugal is the largest importer of cork. The presentation followed by engaging questions from the students, ranging from work conditions to advice on how to approach the job market as a young professional.

Following the lunch break, the group headed to the offices of the bank Millenium bcp and were greeted to their prestigious conference room, used for special occasions. The afternoon consisted of learning more about the bank’s history and current operations, blended together with the sharing of personal stories and insights of well experienced proffessionals at the bank. The setting gave room for discussion among the students and the visit was very appreciated, especially since a live poll showed a great interest of working at a bank in the future.

CLS wants to give a warm thank you to the students that participated in the delegation to Lisbon and we hope that it gave new perspectives and sparked ideas of seeking opportunities in Portugal for the future.

Our sincerest thank you to our partners HAYS and Millenium bcp for welcoming the student delegation with such generosity and open arms. Hopefully you met some of your future colleagues this day..

Until then, CLS looks forward to continuing bridging the gap between Sweden and Portugal!
