Volvo launches "Be safe, be late", a back-to-school movement that challenges parents to arrive later to their work in the first day of school.

29 August 2022

Volvo challenges all companies and their employees to embrace this cause so that this becomes the safest day of the year, allowing them to arrive later on this special date.

For more than 90 years Volvo has kept us safe, both inside and outside its cars. Fighting stereotypes, politics and even helping in creating laws based on our inventions and the desire to preserve our greatest asset: life.

More than half of all accidents are largely due to stress. Almost 25% of them happen in the early hours of the morning, it is the rush to reach our destination, the anxiety of knowing that time does not stretch and that there are hours to be done, regardless of what happens around us.

And if there is one day when this stress is evident, on the road and off it, it is on the first day of school.

We want this year to be different and so we started the #cheguemaistarde movement, embracing the huge challenge of giving more time on the first day of school, transforming it on the safest of the year.

The destination is important, work is important, but more important is the journey and doing it safely. So, we will allow our employees to arrive later on their children's first day of school so that they can be together for the moments that really matter and so that they can make the journey to work safely and without haste.

For them, for you and for everyone, join us and allow your employees and arrive later.

We can't stop time, but we can make it less important and make this the quietest and safest day of the year. For everyone.
