With a long-standing presence in international strategic communications and public affairs, Kreab enters the Portuguese market following the integration of the well-established Portuguese consultancy JLM&A, bringing together decades of local expertise with the global perspective of a multinational organization.
Founded in Stockholm 1993, Kreab is today present in 25 countries and continues to expand its global footprint. In Portugal, the company operates alongside its offices in Mozambique and Angola, reflecting a strategic presence across key Portuguese-speaking markets. The firm’s core purpose is simple yet ambitious: to make complex challenges easier to understand and solve, while connecting companies, institutions, and people.
As a public relations and public affairs consultancy, Kreab works with organizations to strengthen their communication strategies, position companies and CEOs, manage reputations, and navigate increasingly complex business environments. Through a wide range of services, including digital advisory and strategic positioning, the company helps clients transform challenges into clear and effective solutions.
Before entering the communications industry, Vítor Cunha, CEO at Kreab Portugal, worked for 12 years as a journalist at a prominent weekly newspaper. His career path initially led him to law school, though he soon realized that journalism was where his true interests lay.
This background in journalism continues to influence the company’s approach to communication, focusing on understanding narratives, audiences, and the broader context in which organizations operate. Kreab’s work takes place in a communication landscape that has changed dramatically in recent decades. Vítor Cunha recalls the early days of the internet, when connections were slow and digital tools were limited.
“Today, we can make a phone call in the middle of the desert thanks to satellite connections,” he reflects. “Technology has connected us in ways we could hardly imagine before.” - Vítor Cunha
Despite this rapid technological progress, the company emphasizes that the human factor remains essential. Creativity, ambition, and strategic thinking continue to be what truly differentiate organizations.
The company sees strong potential in collaborating with CLS to connect Swedish and Portuguese businesses. Through its international structure, the firm hopes to facilitate exchanges between companies seeking to expand into new markets.
“We believe this partnership can help introduce Swedish companies to Portugal and support Portuguese companies looking toward the Nordics,” Cunha note.
Looking ahead, Kreab’s ambition remains focused on supporting clients and growing alongside them.
CLS warmly welcomes Kreab Portugal to our community and looks forward to building strong collaborations in the years ahead.
