The Swedish-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce (CLS) is delighted to welcome Polestar Portugal as a new member to our community. With its deep Scandinavian roots, commitment to sustainability, and bold vision for the future of electric mobility, Polestar represents a modern and purpose-driven frontrunner in its field.
The performance and motorsport arm of Volvo Cars, Polestar has evolved into an independent electric vehicle manufacturer with the core values of Swedish design, performance, and sustainability. After becoming a fully independent brand in 2016, Polestar has remained closely connected to Volvo through shared service networks and a common focus on innovation and safety.
Polestar officially entered the Portuguese market in May 2022, initially as a satellite operation linked to Spain. Since then, the company has refined its direct-to-consumer business model, creating a new network approach that empowers partners to sell and service vehicles under the NGA model. Today, Polestar operates three key locations in Portugal; Porto, Lisbon, and soon Faro, where a new Polestar Space is scheduled to open in December 2025.
Sustainability is the foundation of everything the company does. The brand’s Project Zero aims to create a completely climate-neutral car by 2030, from research and development to production and disposal. This ambition is pursued through circular design principles, responsible material sourcing, and the use of blockchain technology to trace every component back to its origin, ensuring full transparency and accountability across the supply chain.

Meet Miguel Pinto – Managing Director at Polestar Portugal
With a background as a mechanical engineer and a career that spans leadership roles across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, Miguel Pinto brings both global experience and local insight to Polestar Portugal. After a decade with Porsche, including missions in Madrid and Singapore, Miguel returned to Portugal in late 2021 to take on the mission of establishing Polestar’s presence in the market.
"Polestar’s growth in Portugal has been both consistent and encouraging, with the brand achieving record-breaking sales year after year. In 2025, we are on track to once again exceed expectations and surpass the milestone of 500 units sold." - Miguel Pinto
Miguel points out that Portugal’s compact geography and growing EV infrastructure make it an ideal market for sustainable mobility. Yet, achieving circularity and sourcing sustainable materials remains costly, a challenge Polestar continues to pioneer with transparency and innovation.
Joining the CLS network marks an important step for Polestar Portugal. Through CLS, Polestar hopes to engage with Swedish companies and residents in Portugal, as well as local businesses that share a passion for innovation and sustainability.
