Get to know our new Board member, Teresa pala Schwalbach

23 June 2020

From March 18th, CLS is happy to welcome Teresa Pala Schwalbach as our Board Member. Teresa is yet a step in CLS vision to strengthen our knowledge and strategic decisions to be a continued trusted partner within the Swedish-and Portuguese business community.

Teresa is a tax lawyer with Sérvulo & Associados law firm where she is also the head of the Scandinavian Desk, a specialized platform designed to advise companies and private clients from the Nordic countries, with particular emphasis to Swedish companies and individuals, in their activities in Portugal.

She studied Law at the Portuguese Catholic University, with a quick stop at the Faculty of Law of the Roger Williams University, in Rhode Island, USA.

She began her career as a tax consultant at Deloitte where she worked for many years.

She continued studying not only tax law (from both Portugal and the African Portuguese-speaking countries), but also ancillary areas essential for the tax area, such as finance, accounting, and management.

She holds a Master’s in Business Administration from ESADE Business School in Barcelona, in association with the Portuguese Catholic University

Before joining Sérvulo, she headed the tax department at the law firm «MC&A – Sociedade de Advogados, R.L.». There, she had the opportunity to travel the world – particularly Sweden, the UK, and China – working in legal transactions and explaining to foreign investors how to enter the Portuguese market or that of African Portuguese-speaking countries.

At MC&A, Teresa started working with Swedish investors and became very interested in helping further develop the ties between Portugal and Sweden.

Since then, she has worked closely with Swedish individuals and companies not only from a business perspective but also at a personal level easing the contact between Swedes and Portuguese so they get to know each other.

Teresa hopes she can bring her motivation and professional experience to help develop and strengthen CLS’s presence in Portugal, contributing to increasing the interactions between Sweden and Portugal.

When she is not working, Teresa enjoys spending time with her family, travelling, and watching Benfica games.

A very warm welcome to you, Teresa!
